The second edition of the PEN-MP Conference led by the Dutch police took place in December 2024. The PEN-MP is a European police network, connecting police experts from over more than 36 EU and non-EU countries. This is the place where international expertise, in the search for missing persons and the identification of unknown human remains is shared. This network directly contributes to the corss-border investigation.
The Netherlands has been the presiding country of this police network for three years. Last December 2023, the kick-off of the presidency took place in Almere with the conference theme: “Together we Care, Together we Search”. The focus of the conference was upon the deployment of citizen search teams.
This year’s conference was about: “Together we Care, Together we Investigate”.
where the emphasis was on international child abductions-investigations.
The presiding country organizes the annual PEN-MP conference. The moment for police experts and involved organizations to meet each other, share knowledge and expertise. All for the improvement and accelerating for the investigation of missing persons. For this reason, police representatives from 36 countries came to The Netherlands this year.
Day guests from various organizations were also present, all related to this year’s theme. The conference offered a well-packed program with high-profile keynote speakers and various expert meeting sessions. More than 250 international guests were welcomed by the Dutch police.
